a 10 amp constant draw dosent sound right... And the bike will not charge at
full potential, but it will charge... I recomend testing how long you can run
at idle your self... In your driveway (with a battery charger and extra gas on
hand) ride around the block a few times then park in your drive way in nutural
and center stand (if you have one) take note of the time... When the bike dies
take note again.... Then check the gas tank... if you still have gas then i
would say that the battery dieing is the least of your worries...

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Question about idle in traffic

Hi All,
this might come off as a dumb question so sorry if the answer is an obvious
one. I've searched around online for the answer but I can't seem to find
one.
I have a 650sc and the discharge rate of the battery at idle is about
10amps. The manual says that the charger system will not charge the battery
at under 1500 rpms. So basically my question is this: How long can I be
stuck in traffic before the battery dies out on me? Is there a way to
circumvent this (i.e. turn off engine)?

Thanks in advance,

Stefano
