If I had to guess, I would say that when I get a chance to check (probably this Thursday, when I put the new chain, sprockets, air filter, oil change, exhaust, and so forth on it) that the idle amperage from the alternator will probably be in the 5-6amp range. You need some ~3 amps for the headlight (@ 35w and 12v nominal voltage) and I could see another 2-3 amps for the ignition circuit at idle, maybe as many as 4 (I'm not quite certain of the specifics, so that's my best guess).
Now, I'm sure once you get to the point where the alternator starts putting out, you will probably have a fairly constant high load on the alternator until it has fully recharged the battery. -Kurt -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
