Hi Paul, Thanks so much for the email!
I've done extensive searches on this list and others and have found lots of useful info on the tensioners on the '80-series nighthawks, but very little on the '90's (mine is a '92). Seems from spending hours and hours reading everything I've found that the noise sounds right for the tensioner (low RPM rattle during acceleration at low speeds), but I can't seem to find anyone who has said if this was the case, or my '92 isn't one that suffers from this. Any other non-tensioner ideas that might be causing this rattle? I also can't seem to figure out if this is just a tensioner issue, or if I need to replace the timing chain, too. Also not sure if this is a job I can jump into, or one best left for a mechanic. Finally, I'm still not sure if this low-RPM rattling noise is something that needs immediate attention, or something I can live with for another few thousand miles or so. Doesn't seem like I can post pics through this web interface, but here's a pic of her: http://www.kismetworldwide.com/cb750_nighthawk/1992_cb750_side.jpg Thanks again for the email, and for any advice you might have. Before I posted I scoured the list for "tensioner" and "cam chain" and "rattle" and so far haven't found anything I've felt answered my issue or shed light on if that's even the problem.
