+1 on checking the drive chain tension. From what I understand cam chain slack doesn't destroy an engine unless it is severe and at that point you're engine would run terrible from the severely retarded cam timing. Though on most bikes to replace the chain requires a complete tear down as you have to fit the new chain around the crank. Master link cam chains while they exist are not well thought of and not used by any manufacturer. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T
