"Sitting" is likely the source of it. Change the oil, add a little SeaFoam
miracle elixir to the oil, then run it regularly. Give it a chance to work
up and into everything, clean out the age-degraded oil, pray it doesn't
start leaking from every seal... bet the knocking will go away.
