This is the promised final report (on this phase): Putting the exhausts back on was more of an adventure than we expected. Everything seemed to be on right, but the mid and rear bolts missed the holes by about 1/2 inch. After a "did you take out the old gaskets? No, I thought you did", and fixing that, we were down to 1/8 inch. After a lot of wiggling and shaking, it fell in place. The adventure will continue in another thread.
