Just read through the other responses...
Your most realistic bet is to drive 60 to 65 mph and leave home earlier. As
with cars, MPG at slow speeds is mostly dictated by weight, and at high speeds
it's all aerodynamics.
I can prove to anyone that wants to ride in a car using my engine scanner that
you use much less fuel at 65 than 70 or faster. It just takes so much more work
to push the air out of the way. In my car, I ran a full tank at 23 mpg going
80mph cross country (flat, open roads); then the very next tank went 60-65 and
got 33 mpg - through the mountains.

You might have some realistic luck experimenting with different wind screens as
well; and (if you don't have one already) they are pretty nice at that speed
anyways.

Also; you should try to realistically add up the total fuel savings over time -
from 47 to 50 mpg is a 6% increase. Add that up over your riding season and see
how long that would take to add up enough for say... a case of beer... or a new
windscreen...
