It's common for the headlight square bucket on the CB650 NH to have
cracks or chips out of it. It's not the windshield resting on it
that causes the stress it's all the wiring packed inside it. Note
the pressure you need to put the headlight back in. You can fibre
glass or epoxy or JB Weld the inside to fix the cracks, Graham

Ok back of the fuse box I'll check ... Now we re talking about the
front fuse box under the headlight behind the horns, not the 30a fuse
holder by the battery, right ? (oh the newbee feeling suddenly
invading my head...)
Now to have easy access there to check it all, it's headlight off it's
mount and horns down, right ???
Also found out while checking wiring inside the headlight that the
plastic framing of it had cracks. Any clue to find a new one ? (the
small windshield was mounted touching the headlight... I guess it put
on pressure with time)
Its a 650sc 1985...
Only rode it for a day and already miss the smooth engine ... :-)

Kyle is correct. This is an ignition switch problem at the back of
the fuse
box. I have an 84 650 and this has happened to me twice. I would
be riding
along and the bike would just shut off, nothing worked. Some wire
wiggling
at the fuse box and it would come back to life. This happened 5-6
times one
day, not fun. A thorough cleaning of the 2 ignition plug
connections at the
fuse box and dielectric grease solved the problem.

OK,
Bought a very nice 1985 Nighthawk... yesterday. I drove 70 miles
back
without any issues, runs like a kitten, battery remains charged
(known
issue...)
Happy as a king
Used it yesterday afternoon to do a little tour, all is well...
Today, I want to use it... all light come on, starter starts,
then all
goes off... Impossible to get anything on anymore.. Web browsing
(manuals are in the mail :-) ) found location of the 4 15 amps, all
good. Main 30a fuse seems ok...
What am I missing ?? I try the key juggle, verified all connections,
got 12.6v on the battery... there must be another fuse somewhere !
Help !!!!!!
