I just went to the garage and pushed, pulled, and twirled the wire. No light. I've got a tester and a wiring diagram, but I'm at a loss for what to do with them.

Check the wire at the starter switch housing again. Jiggle it, if need
be. Mine looked fine, nothing looked amiss, but wriggling the wire about
gave me full light function again.

Sorry, I neglected to say that the first thing I did was change the
fuse and check the bulb itself. The bulb lit up no problem. Since I
posted, I found the "headlight out" tip on the maintenance page that
says to look for a loose headlight dimmer wire in the start button
unit on the right handlebar next to the throttle. I could not see
anything that looked out of place in there.

The only thing I did to hook up the 12V socket was to put the loops
through the battery bolts, run the wire under the gas tank, and bolt
the socket unit onto the handlebars. I attached a battery tender 2-
prong socket at the same time and secured it to the frame. Both the
GPS and battery tender worked great. It wasn't till I had to ride back
from work in the dark that I realized I had a problem.

    Thanks,
    EGrider
