Same here:kerosene and a brush,but not a toothbrush... First,do you see movement when you squeeze the lever with the cover off? Did you tighten the loose bolt? Not enough torque will likely allow the bolt to loosen. As someone else said, too tight will possibly strip the bolt and maybe the threads in the hole.
