+1 to add fuel and recheck. if that still does not work try a SMALL shot of starting fluid in the air box and try to turn it over.
engines are simple things... they only need air, fuel, and spark to run.. this has all the markers of a fuel problem... OOOOO and another simple N00B thing that has caught us all.. check your off run off handlebar switch... ive been embarased by "the kill" switch a few times.
