How often should we be checking our battery levels?
Assuming of course our bike is "right side up"?

The problem is that youtook your northern hemisphere bike to the bottom of the
world. Now that it'supsidedown all the time the juice is spilling out of the
batteries.

I got up thismorning and went to fire up my ’86 700SC. The green and red
dashlights came on and there was a click and then they went off. Ifiddled the

nothing. All lights off anddead.

This afternoon, Ipopped off the side cover and pulled the battery. All the
cellswere down to 30 to 40% of the optimal fill levels.

I filled all thecells up to the correct levels and popped the battery back in
and VROOM, I hada running bike again.

I remember nowthat this happened about a year ago. Maybe my voltage regulator
ispumping in a bit too much juice? Ah well, it’s an easy thing to
checkperiodically.

Just a heads upthan not all the problems we’re going to face are going to be
toughones. I really love these bikes.
