Agreed. Ideally I'd like to replace the taillight with a combination brake/signal all-in-one, then put a couple of lights on the side of the front fairing for signals. LEDs simply give more lumens in a smaller space. OEM signals are bulbous and the stems are rotty. Dale

Unless you have a lot of them a regular bulb will be brighter. Also the size of the turn signal is the most important aspect to visibility and the larger the better.
