Joey, you may be onto something there. First thing I did when I got the bike was soften the suspension as far as I could. It is so simple with that turn nob, and I like the soft ride. I will try that out, for when I have passengers or a lot of gear. All that said, I am not afraid of the bike, the way I ride, and my forward weight. And you are right, that's it, just because the power is there, I don't to use it. I will try out a stiffer suspension. Thanks,

I had the same problem with my GS-1000 - fighting traffic I went from a very heavy brake application to very heavy throttle to accelerate ahead of traffic coming behind me. Unfortunately, with my GF riding two up - we found out how easily the 1000 can wheelie in first gear. With just me riding, I have yet to wheelie the 1000 - but I'm sure I could if I wanted to. Thanks for the words of advice! -Joey On Sat, May 5, 2012 at 10:27 PM, Pastor Ron <[email protected]> wrote: Joey, Yes I have, it is the weight in the back. My son who weighs about 70 lbs was on it and I was in first gear, popped it just a little, and it went up. He never realized it, but I did. I had just gotten it. I was talking to the first owner today for the first time and he said it happened to him and his girlfriend, when they were on the open road, and he had punched it. She never realized it either, but he was shaken. He told me he rode it hard though and she liked to go fast. Also I have read that the police in CA use them and the weight of all their radio stuff and gear in the rear makes them "unstable" at high speeds. The one you were looking at was a 1100. They don't have as much power, so I don't know if they have the same risk. This is new to me too. I rode it pretty hard as a singe rider and had no problems with the front end. My first thought was it is an insane amount of power, and you have to remember that when riding. It is not a beginner bike. I don't think my wife with ride with me very much anyway. Wondering how my GF would feel about being behind - the finances have not yet presented themselves for us to get her either a bike or the MSF course. -Joey On Sat, May 5, 2012 at 8:58 PM, Pastor Ron <[email protected]> wrote: Joey, that's exactly right. Get an ST. It is the best possible for both worlds. And howls like a Honda! One you ride one you'll know what I mean. I have a 29" inseam, and I can handle it well. I called the first owner of my bike today, the one before the guy who sold it to me. He was really nice and said he would send me his Corbin seat for free. He said it was made lower because he is a short guy. You can always add that, but you probably will not need it. When you stop at lights you will need for feet down because of the added weight. It is not like a NH when it comes to weight. I am not sure your budget; but to me IT'S worth the extra bucks. When I put it up on the open road, it stops the wind whistle and some head rain. I also added a trunk which I am not sure it that is possible on that bike. On the down side, I know the front wheel goes up easily on my ST1300 if there is a passenger on the back and you punch it. Of course condition is everything. Working on them is certainly different from the NH. The fairing at least for me a newbie ST owner is a hassle. But when you on the open road, it's worth it. I paid a lot more than that for my 2005 ST1300. The price is good. One thing I am not really sure about is the color of the faring. I have seen that color on the replacement fairings on EBAY. And I have not seen it on the new ones. But then again I have not seen all that there are out there. I would check and make sure the bike is not damaged underneath the bike. I don't know if you can do that. I would also check out the front shocks were they were recently worked on. I am not saying I would not buy it, but I would check those things out. Honestly, I think you would love an ST1100 or 1300.
