where i am known to ride in shorts and flipflops i do ALWAYS wear a helmet. i also do not fault others for wanting that extra layer of protection. in the sailing world some people are content with having there life jackets stowed below decks and saftey checked once a year, others wear one before they step onbord. its a level of comfort and a personal choice. my level of comfort just happens to be MUCH more relaxed then some others..
