Next week I’ve got a week off from work, and I’m planning on taking my NH north from Atlanta into the great unknown. I’ll be doing Deal’s Gap and the Dragon (that’s no-brainer), but after that I’m open to suggestions. I’ve been told that Gatlinburg is very nice and well worth a visit, so that’s also on the list, but that’s about it so far.
Can any of you guys who have NC, TN, VA, KY, WV experience recommend any especially scenic routes or points of interest? Beautiful mountain vistas? Comments such as “Route 102 between Beaumont and Mt. Airy in NC is drop-dead gorgeous and Whiskeyville makes a good place to spend the night” would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
