Try a good bookstore for Motorcycle Adventures In the Southern Appalachians (Book 1 - Milestone Press) by Hawk Hagebak, a retired Cobb County motorcycle cop.
As Ed McMahon might've said "EVERYthing you wanna know is in that little book..." It's a slim volume that'll fit easily in a tank bag and he breaks it down into a series of mapped, bite-sized rides in North Georgia, western North Carolina and East Tennessee (start, ride overview, total distance, time frame, etc). Includes an appendix of places to stay, play, eat, shop and get gas. A sample of one of his recommended "loops": "Take in the tastes and sights of a little Bavarian village, enjoy the amenities of a state park, make a short hike to see a beautiful waterfall and ride along lightly trafficked mountain roads as they take you past a large lake and through a wildlife management area. It's a dynamic ride. 52.1 miles, an hour and a half, start to finish. Add an hour, if you're so inclined for the hike to and from Anna Ruby Falls." And like that. Excellent read. Highly recommended. , On Jun 28, 10:07 am, EGrider <[email protected]> wrote: > Next week I’ve got a week off from work, and I’m planning on taking my NH > north from Atlanta into the great unknown.
