since lane splitiing is legal in california and california is not the number one state for motorcycle fatalities per capita, id say that lane splitting when done by someone with intellect and restraint, is a useful tool at times. i certainly have doen it to avoid an accidnet many times in my 40 years of motorcycling. just my opinion
