My comments about HD are out of jest. My biggest problem with HD has nothing about the bike, but the bikers on them and what they do to them. I cant stand the biker attitude. I do not consider myself a biker, i am a motorcyclist. I dont wear black leather because thays what you do on a bike, i wear thick buffalo because it will save my skin if i go.down on i 4 (yes, im in central florida too, live just south of daytona and work in sanford). I dont dust off my ride twice a year to take it to the cabbage patch (big biker attraction durring bike week and biketoberfest for.those not in florida). I ride 83 miles commute daily. I dont own a car, my goldwing is my only transportation and i like.it that way.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with HD from the FACTORY. The dealer installed add ons are the first.step in what i dont like. I chalange anybody to go to there local harley dealer and find a single HD that is still factory. Between "custom" exausts that woild never meet noise code, aftermarket intakes that void epa restrictions, and the bikers that add other aftermarket "upgrades" when they dont understand the stages involved in them (eg, if you have a less restrictive airfilter, you need to richen your carbs to maintain proper air/fuel mix)... One reason i like this group is because most of us here are very lighthearted and know how to work on there bikes, or atleast know to ask and they wont be bashed for not knowing On Mar 28, 2013 8:41 PM, "jeff mercier" <[email protected]> wrote: > here in the usa, in most places its a full out prejudice john. > yes old british bikes were famous for leaking oil, if they weren't > properly maintained. > its cause of the vibrations > the two british bikes I had were a pre unit Norton 750 bored out to 850, > trick heads, trick pistons, hunt magneto, lake injectors [those things were > so funny] and it didn't leak oil. my other bike was a pre unit triumph 650 > chopper with nothing special done to the engine, again not one drop of oil > spilled. but plenty of time spent on both retorquing the nuts and bolts > from time to time > *From:* John Stewart <[email protected]> > *To:* "[email protected]" < > [email protected]> > *Sent:* Thursday, March 28, 2013 6:50 PM > *Subject:* Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Where do I find a 1996 750 Starter > Motor > > In Ireland it's just banter as we call it that means a friendly bit of > competition and to be fair old British bikes were awful for leaking oil but > your right we are all bikers and what we ride doesn't matter it's the fact > we ride at all that counts > > Sent from my iPhone > > > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to [email protected]. > To post to this group, send email to [email protected]. > Visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/nighthawk_lovers?hl=en-US. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/groups/opt_out. > > > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
