I've watched videos of replacement on a GS and they left the engine in. It was burried below the stator rotor though. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

The starter seem to be spinning freely. I just looked at the manual and it calls for engine removal as step 1. Ouch. And then you need to to basically disassemble the whole thing to get there. Has anyone here ever done this job? are there are short cuts? Any advice is appreciated.
