I've always understood that all Honda needed to make keys was the code on
the helmet or seat lock.

If the ignition switch is needed, it wasn't hard to change on a V30, but
I've never done it on a Nighthawk. I removed the headlight bucket and
disconnected the instrument cluster. After removing the instrument cluster,
the ignition was held in by two bolts, and it came out in my hand after
that. Not much to taking it out. Putting the wiring harness back into the
headlight bucket so that I could get the headlight itself back in right to
fasten it was a challenge to say the least. Taking a cellphone picture of
the layout of the wires once the headlight is out of the bucket seems like
a good idea in retrospect, but it could be a non-issue on a 250 NH.
