The air box does move to the rear a little. You have to unbolt the battery box 
from the frame and the two 10 mm bolts to the rear of the air cleaner opening 
on top. Putting the carbs back is much easier than removing them. Slide the 
carbs part way in, reconnecting the cables, then all the way in and on top of 
the boots to the air box. Push the carbs down in the front to line the throats 
with the carb boots 'joints' are what they often called. Then muscle them in. 
Once they are in it is easy to do the rest, getting the air box boots onto the 
carbs.
