Oh and as for spare parts, starter motors go up but can often be rebuilt so
proactive spending of money on one doesn't make sense. If you make sure
your electrical connections are cleaned and assembled with dielectric
grease, and your ground points are clean, then you shouldn't have to worry
about burning up stators and rectifier/regulators. Old bikes tend to
develop slipping clutches after riding a bit. The plates get hard and then
glaze over and the springs loose tension. So maybe it would be worth
proactively replacing the clutch friction disks and springs. My advice is
to get to know your bike and check everything yourself. It is your butt at
risk and even though the PO seems to do good work, you can get bit by
taking the quality of their work for granted.
