Ultimately, I'm trying to sync the carbs, but the valves should be adjusted before a carb sync is done. Since the valves are adjusted at TDC on the compression stroke, I'm trying to determine when I can be sure I'm on the compression stroke. The easy answer seems to be, since the valve cover is off, just look at the valves on one cylinder and verify that all four are all closed, or in the highest position, right?
