There are definitely marks on the flywheel, as you can see. Problem is, 
there are 3 of them for each bank. Clymer says to line up TR, but then the 
picture they include shows the line by the F lined up with the mark. 
Confusion number 1. 

Then, it makes me wonder if there is no way of making a mistake about the 
cycle as long as the mark is lined up. But there are 2 rear cylinders, 1 
and 3, and I don't think they fire and the same time. So that brought up my 
original post. Kurt, you used the phrase "the visual inspection of the 
rockers." I'm visually inspecting them as you can see, but I'm not 100% 
sure what I'm looking at. That's what I'm asking. 

Again, the valves should be at the highest position, and then I use feeler 
gauge on the position indicated by the arrow, correct?

I'm doing this on a parts bike I pulled out of the shed. There ain't no way 
I'm doing this on something I ride until I understand it. I know this is 
the wrong forum, but it's my only forum. I've read the manuals and looked 
at the YouTubes. Thanks.
