Sorry that didn't fix your problem. You may be better at removing screws better than me, but when faced with such a situation, my first course of action is to use a dremel to put a notch in the side of the head, if space allows. Then I use a punch and tap hammer to try to get it to loosen with hammer blows after soaking it with Liquid Wrench or similar and smacking it all around to loosen it. If the punch and hammer treatment doesn't work, I resort to left-handed drills. If the thing would actually rather I drill a hole through the middle of it than give up and turn, I next put an easy out into the hole. If that doesn't work, I make the hole big enough to allow me to dig the screw metal out of the threads manually.
The process rarely goes farther than the left-handed drill, though. The friction holding the threads in is usually less than the rotational force of drilling out the metal. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
