Well now I am stumped. The last 2 weeks that I have tried to "troubleshoot", 
the bike has started just fine. I checked the neutral diode, wiring from the 
starter button, and kill switch, and jumped the starter. All check out..
I guess I will just need to wait until it stops working and immediately take it 
apart and check again. Seems like quite a bit more of a headache but so be it.

Granted, I will probably be looking to sell anyway as I haven't ridden the bike 
for any real distance since my daughter was born at the end of last year. It 
would just be nice to get closure on this!
