I know. It was a long shot. On that KLX, the fuel petcock is vacuum operated.
It was weird.

No, not float valve which are new. Plastic, see through tubing verifies float
level in the carb bowls stays below level of carb throat opening into air box

On my son's KLX 400 the worn float valve let fuel flow into the motor. Had to
suck gas out through the spark plug hole to prevent hydro lock.

What kinda carbs?

I completely rebuilt the twin carbs on a 1993 Kawasaki EN500 Vulcan. These are
great little parallel twins with plenty of power. I replaced the Orings in the
tubes between the carbs that were causing the leaks. With the carbs back on the
bike I have spent the last two days trying to stop them from leaking still. I
have adjusted the float levels. The leak is not coming from the float valve but
I can see through the air box that it is coming out the back of the carb
directly into the air box. Even with the float levels way below where they
should be the carbs still leak. I can only surmise I did something wrong in
putting the carbs back together. How can gas be overflowing into the air box
when the level in the carb bowl stays below the level of the carb airbox
throat? I have checked the float valves with the carb bowls removed. No leaking
there. I can activate the floats manually and see when the gas stops flowing
into the carbs. How else can the carbs be filling up with gas? People?? Graham
