So this weekend I started on the calipers. I took them off the bike and tried to get the pistons out... they weren't budging even with compressed air. I had to remount the calipers, bleed them, and then use the normal action form the master cylinder to push them out. The only issue was that once one piston started to move I had to lodge something in front of it in order for the others to start moving. Even then, once one piston popped out I had to use pliers to get the other three out... one of which was REALLY stuck... which means I now have little nicks on my caliper pistons from the pliers.
4 new pistons are now on order. :( The Honda OEMs were $35 a piece while reproduction (i.e. Chinese knock-offs) are only $12. If anyone is looking for them you will find them here: https://4into1.com/brake-caliper-piston-45107-ma3-006-honda-cb400-450-650-750-900-1100-cm400-450-cx-gl500-650-vf700-750-1100-cbx-gl1100/ On a positive note, I now know my master cylinder works! :) But I already bought the parts to rebuild it so I'll follow through with that plan anyways. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
