Thanks, kiwinPA. I'll definitely do something similar the next time I have
to remove caliper pistons!

I cleaned up the calipers. The worst part was that the original piston
seals were dissolved and had adhered themselves to the groves in the
caliper. They fell apart when attempting to remove, so it didnt' all pull
out... leaving a mess to clean up.
Degreaser and a tooth brush resulted in minimal cleanup of the remaining
material.
Dremel with a wire brush resulted in getting most of the residue out of the
gasket grooves, but I had to be super careful not to scuff the cylinder
wall and with the angels I couldn't get it all out.
A metal dental pick proved to be the final step... the angle was perfect
and I was able to dig out the gasket grooves.

I put them back together last night with all new rubber parts and pistons.
They look sweet! I just have to get the master cylinder rebuilt before I
assemble the front brakes and check functionality. I feel certain they will
operate though... I still can't believe how much force it took to push the
old pistons out. One of them really did not want to budge!
