Thanks to all for their suggestions. I took Dave's advice and changed the file type to .sit and it worked like a charm. Now I have another question.
The Read Me file says that after you first startup NSeX, it will create a Macros folder, to wit:

3. Drag the contents of the Macros folder in the downloaded "dmg" file to the Macros folder on your hard drive:

~/Library/Application\ Support/Nisus\ Writer/Macros

I have done this on two different machines - A G4 Powerbook running MacOSX 10.2.6-J and a G3 Powerbook running MacOSX 10.2.6-English - and in both cases the advertized Macros Folder does not appear. On both machines I have a Library/Application Support folder, but nothing about Nisus. Any ideas on this one?

Dave,

I just downloaded the new Nisus Writer Express Beta and I have a
problem. It has the .php extension, but will not expand when I drag it
to Stuffit Expander. I tried both the Zip and Stuffit options, a rather
long download for both, by the way. Any suggestions.

On a couple of browsers, this is a problem. Try changing the name of the
file to nwx.sit and try to open it.
