thanks for that email. From my point of view the decision made by Nisus Software was quite right: First deliver a small word processor for daily use (maybe better compared with Nisus Compact than with NW 6.x), then later develop that 'pro tool' most of the list members are looking for.
For me the way of OmniGraffle 1.x, 2.x and now 3 Pro is a good example for that: Of course it had been nice if OmniGraffle 1 would had been OmniGraffle 3 Pro. But I think OmniGraffle 3 Pro is the strong tool it is because of the feedback the OmniGroup had for their 1.x and 2.x versions.
Concerning the features which are planned to be added to NW Express Dave has written:
In the near future, we will be adding features as fast as we can, as soon as some core issues are addressed (for example, the Cocoa text engine. The less said about that the better). Footnotes, endnotes, integrated tables ... those features are coming first, judging by the feedback email we are getting.
Again I think, the decision which features Nisus Software wants to add first is well thought -- I'd just like to add one further: Support of styles. Then really most of the users I know could do most of their work in NW Express -- and it really would be a product you could recommend especially university students.
To put it in a nutshell: After some days (as a long time Nisus Classic user) being disappointed with Nisus Writer Express, I started liking this app. I has a really clear, nice interface, and for the first time we really have a 'compatible' version of NW. With RTF as the file format of NW Express it is possible to exchange files without converting -- and that's really a win for cooperative working. And: It works very good together with Bookends X...
Best wishes,
Andreas Hepp
