Believe me, Chris; I am not here to defend WEP. The WAP in question predates WPA and so does the adapter in my laptop :) Such obsolescence speaks to the open public network you mention. I want some control as the location would be prone to all manner of bad things on a wide open access point. I hear that WPA has been cracked as well. Maybe not in 60 seconds on a nothing computer but cracked all the same. The emperor has new clothes. We are in Robertson County, after all. Points taken. We are saying the same thing here. The point of this thread is to encourage discussion of more than consumer grade kit for such projects. It is time to seek beyond Wally*World and BestByeBye. My other "two network" client just called telling me that their 802.11n link hasn't worked all week (with which I have had little to do). I have another source from whom I'm getting a quote for a better link.
