Along these lines, I've always been very happy with domain and hosting
through nearlyfreespeech.net.  I'm not actually sure if they turn a
profit with the services, but they've been around for several years.
Prices for domain registration are pretty close to godaddy, and you
don't have to worry about being kicked off their server over issues
with their fine print.

They've actually raised their prices a bit for hosting recently, but
it's still cheaper than you'd expect in many cases.
