Also. Even though the page references a "transfer cable", I stored the image to an external USB disk. You could probably store to a 2nd data volume on the sick system (as that would be fast transfer rate than USB 2 even most likely).

The cloned disk with dd_rescue clones Boot track and all. It should boot right up as if it were the original sick disk.
