Perhaps I've not been clear, let me try again...
When using the CLI su requires the root password, while sudo requires
the user password. OK, whatever. However, when doing an admin task via
the GUI, e.g. using Synaptic to upgrade packages, I would normally
expect it to require the root password. But, it asks for the user
password. I just don't see the need for the schizophrenia. I'm
perfectly happy to function as either a user or an admin, and don't see
the need to be a user/admin... sometimes.
It's a minor issue, and I've learned to live with it. Part of "living
with it" is that I continue to use Mandriva. heh heh
