Trish,

You're correct. There are some financial events that we have to plan  
for in some way. I know that our cars tires will wear out and the 100K  
service will be more expensive than others. I know that certain  
appliances are getting old and may need to be replaced.

I guess I'm just so bad at estimating what might happen that I have to  
continually build my savings so I can stay ahead of whatever I might  
miss.
