Kevin- Thanks for your last email, and especially thank you for all your patience. I went back through and checked the transactions and discovered that when I first reconciled my checking account, I had put in the starting balance in the reconciliation window as the starting balance entry. So for that first reconciliation, the reconciled balance was indeed showing as all the deductions because it was a short month and I had no deposits. I redid that reconciliation with the starting balance as zero, marked the starting balance entry in the register window as reconciled, and ....voila! It appears to be resolved. This probably seems to be an obviously basic point to you, but the FAQs don't appear to say anywhere that you need to have your beginning balance as zero in the initial reconciliation.
