Something close to it. But the major distinction is that it was done in 2000 years or more ago and everyone fought with each others in those days with sticks and stones or swords. Also it is difficult who are the original inhabitants in case of Ainu and other groups and all of them were more or less on the same level of civilization. Also, similar things were happening all over the world in those days without really any clear distinction of who is invaders and who are not. In modern history of Japan, there is no such attempt of annihilation like what immigrants did in 17-19th centuries in North and South America are done. Or, what seems to be happening in 21st century in the Middle East.
