No, it won't, but I do not think that will be main thing that list members will
notice. I will try to leave the list to operate on its own to the extent
possible, unless we encounter an abuse of free speech that results in people
leaving the list and other members repeatedly having to waste time making
reasonable requests for the offending party to exercise restraint.

I think there will be two major changes that will be obvious from the outset:

1. Mark has posted around 1,500 "messages" (many of them just URLs, and many
others cross-postings without any comment) to this list since it moved from
Google Groups. These "messages" will no longer foul anyone's in-box. Nor will
the responses to them. John G. has written around 750 messages in the same
period, but many of these were in response to Mark's "messages". This is true
of Roland as well. There will be no need for any of this wasted time and energy
and bandwidth now either.

2. Former members of the list will likely return and start contributing again.
No promises, but I think the prospects for this are fair. That will increase
the number of voices heard here, and hopefully generate more interesting
discussions, over a broader range than just politics. I appreciated Jerry's
suggestion about how each member could inject something regularly about a topic
of particular interest to him or her, and hope that we can follow up along
those lines.

Just got back in from a trip into town, so I am not sure yet how many people
have joined the new list. If anyone has not received a message yet and wishes
to join, please let me know and I will see to it.

Welcome all, save one.
