Josh,
I created this code to satisfy a particular customer's use case. Then it
turned out that other customers (such as the one Aaron is working with) needed
the same functionality, so we decided to contribute it.
I do intend to continue to maintain the code and add functionality when needed.
The version here does expect Accumulo 1.5 with the Thrift proxy, although
internally I have ported a proxy to work with Accumulo/Cloudbase 1.3.x as
well...I just didn't see that as being relevant for general use.
I agree that it probably belongs in contrib, rather than in the main codebase.
