The Superset community talked about this SIP on today's public townhall
meeting. The key points:
- Folks are concerned about trying to meet every possible need in base
Superset, which is part of the push for making this an extension
- That said, there is support for the narrow case of adding a simple
calendar picker option
- We should create a new clean SIP discussion to vote on - it's too hard to
vote on this giant discussion, and the latecomers (including me) have steered
this away from what earlier authors expressed. _I will create this._
- The ideal would be to convert the existing date filter code to an
extension before modifying it. This extension would be bundled with base
Superset so everyone gets it, but making it an extension lets orgs customize
further
- That said, Pravin has the code ready to go, and we might be able to get
the votes of the people who are in the camp of convert-to-extensions-first even
if it 's not their ideal
