   In terms of end state, I remember being confused by why does every chart has 
to have a Time control section when I first used Superset. It's just strange to 
treat every query as timeseries by default.
   
   I've imagined a future where the time column is defined as just another type 
of calculated column---this is much more intuitive and could support advanced 
features such as applying multiple time dimension to a chart---you can filter 
by one, then plot by another.
   
   I understand how it could be confusing when users sometimes see the time 
section sometimes don't, but this is already the case when they switch between 
viz types. With proper documentation and education, I think it's quite easy to 
pick up the idea that in order to have the Time controls, a dataset needs to 
have a temporal column AND a viz type needs to support timeseries.
