Well the rumor is that he *is* recording new material... and
supposedly the next tour will feature that cuz even for him 3121 is
dead. Much of 3121 sounded like a desperate plea to Mani to come back
to him... you know how he communicates thru songs instead of in
person... Songs like Lolita, Fury, and Love--all seem to cry "no I
wasn't cheating on anyone, and no matter what 'word on the street, i'm
still your man'". Now that he's gotten his answer from her in the
form of divorce papers, it would seem that the 3121 project is over.

Feel wonderful (or whatever that demo was called) suggests a more
instense, angry(?), bitter(?) Prince? Is this an indication of where
he plans on going?

I agree that his most prolific days are behind him... and part of that
is that he just seems bored having covered so much ground already. He
needs to really get out and get exposed to things/sounds/experiences
he hasn't yet. Get out of spiritual and artistic straightjackets cuz
they don't serve him well. There was a time when he was closely
surrounded by people who constantly brought him new music--Dez, Wendy,
Lisa, Alan Leeds, Eric Leeds, Sheila E.--and new bandmembers,
especially those recruited by Sheila. His most exciting time as a
writer seemed to occur with that exposure.

The last time he seemed so excited was The Rainbow Children/One Nite Alone
tour.

If the rumors of the Superbowl Halftime Show are true, then maybe he
has gone back to calculating his next move again sort of like he did
with the Grammy Beyonce performance. I guess we'll see.

To me, what Prince is doing doesnt seem enormously different than the
way he's been in the past. I think his general overall output has
been getting smaller for some years now - even taking into account
the One Night Alone and Musicology tours. I would attribute that to
his aging. Its inevitable, of course - he's not going to be as active
as he was in 84 or 94 or even 2004. And if you go back to the pre-
NPGMC days (before the website), it was always more difficult to
track him.

Having said that, I'm surprised he didnt go on tour for 3121. I
thought he wanted to. If there are to be concerts in 2007, I hope
they're in conjunction with a newer release. And I am surprised he
shut the website down - I thought he was all about the internet.

I think he'll be back very soon - I'm guessing things will continue
to be a bit slower as far as new music, concerts, etc.
