brought him new music--Dez, Wendy, Lisa, Alan Leeds, Eric Leeds, Sheila E.--and
new bandmembers, especially those recruited by Sheila. His most exciting time
as a writer seemed to occur with that exposure.
The last time he seemed so excited was The Rainbow Children/One Nite Alone
tour."
So true, but let us not forget nor bring up why this ocurred. It was
definitely a time for Prince to go through a period of spiritual regrowth. And
with such a change, or course his mood would have changed. Just like any of us
who go though a difficult period of time to finally see some light at the end
of the tunnel. My opinion is that he surrounded himself with the wrong
influences, however productive he was.
I wouldn't say that his most prolific days are over, I'm thinking that are just
beginning. The man is approaching 50 years old. He's see a lot, been through
a lot and will go through more.
These could be the best years of his life. He should have enough subject
matter at this point to put out a CD every 2-3 months. Although most people
will say he doesn't pose a stand on the current political situations, he has
always addressed what was going on. Some just had to weed through the lyrics
to see the real meaning behind the words.
As usual, Prince always comes back from what we may think is the bottom and
blows everybodies minds with lyrics and music that truly make you think of the
beginning. So, an end? Neva.....
But will agree that it must be rough to put so much of yourself and your life
into your music only to have that wither away. I mean as much as people talked
about Emancipation, it had something for everyone, but how often have you heard
any of these songs in concert since Mayte left? 3121 may be the same...
Like I said before, I'll just wait and see what happens next. Either way, good
or bad the "Ryde is always Divine."
