Thanks for the info. After reviewing some more documentation I found that you cannot use the one large file that you download from MS or copy from the CD. It must be extracted (using the /x switch) and then you must run the update.exe from the extracted location. Then the slipstream works. This is due to a "feature" in the SP installation routine that essentially hard codes the path of the update file to a location that may or may not exists (Q271371). Couple that with the info in the SPDeploy.doc that is part of the SP. Actually both Andrew and Doug were correct. It works Doug's way if you do not extract the files and it works in any sub-folder if they are extracted. Thanks for your input.

I've done it with a deeply nested i386 folder. I'll do it again when I get home and send the commands. - ASB -----Original Message----- From: Mehringer, Doug [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, October 08, 2001 10:01 AM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Cannot slipstream SP2 update -s:c: The i386 directory must be off of the root in order for it to work. Sucks, I know, but if it's under a subdirectory like it is in your case, it won't work. Hence your error. Douglass W. When the file is finally extracted I have a error message that says: Not all files necessary to perform an integrated installation are present. I have tried the SP CD that came with TechNet as well as re-downloading it. I have replaced my installation files on the share direct from the original CD. I am using the command "update /s:d:\cd" where d:\cd is the local directory on my machine that has the installation files including a i386 directory. Any ideas?
