Can you really make a Windows 2000 Server a BDC in a NT4 domain? I
didn't think that was possible.

Ok, I reset the machine, it booted up fine and everything seemed to go
ok, but really it didn't.

Now I'm trying to reduce this machine to a member server, after logging
in with the domain admin account and running dcpromo, it asks me for
some domain admin credentials, which I enter, but still get:

The operation failed because: The Directory Service failed to replicate
off changes made locally. "Access is Denied".

I'm also getting all kinds of NTDS errors in the event logs.
Essentially this machine thinks that its a DC, but the domain doesn't
like it.
