Considering that XP is not for server, you can't upgrade from NT4 Server to
XP  ;)

Just from NT4 workstation for XP...

I think XP would say that he can't do an upgrade if it detects the operating
system as NT4 Server.

Your wonderfull and wise (and soon dead ;) ) network admin might have
screwed up the server trying to push that upgrade!!

Maybe he dis-joined the domain and puted the computer into a workgroup,  or
altered the IP settings, and now the server doesn't comunicate... all
thoughts!

Can you at least PING the server from a client machine?
