You're right, it was confusing. But I still think he is screwed. Active Directory with single DC, rebuilds DC without backing up = lose entire active directory database = reinstall active directory from scratch along with having to recreate all computer and user accounts. Lots of fun, methinks.

Any way, KT, you really ought to describe your symptoms before you say "what I think is screwing up my domain". Can you specify what is screwed in your domain? Any error messages? Was your old computer the first DC? Does it hold the GC role? Is there any other GC's in the domain? How many other DC's do you have in the domain? Etc... He rebuilt it with win2k pro. He is what I did. I recieved a new computer to replace the one (domain controller) that I was using. I in ignorance, I blissfully set up the new computer. Set it up with Advanced server (2000), with a differant name than the old computer. I then rebuilt the older computer (Win2000 pro) and gave it a new name. So, the old name from the old computer is still out there as a controler. I think this is screwing up my domain. So how do I get rid of the old computer? or point me to directions?
