Get a FTP server setup on the other side and download large (500MB) files.

We found our intermittent fault was because the unit was in the same
location as the main A/C chiller plant. Chiller would cut in and back feed
into the mains , causing power disruption.
Putting the radio gear on a car battery with a 9v regulator solved that.


a ping -t  outputted to a file could be a basic first step

there any packages out there that will graph ping responses, so that I
can look for spikes or breaks?
